To install any maps from this website just download them and then drag them into your UT2004 or UT2003 Maps folder. For the music just drag them into the Music folder. Also, you need the Epic Bonus Pack and maybe the Digital Extremes Bonus Pack if you are using UT2003. I'll have to check back on that, but if you just have the Epic one you should be fine.
Here is my single player map called Lost Cause that won the Spring Show at the Academy of Art for Level Design and Environments for games: Download it here: Lost Cause Download the video demonstration here: Lost Cause Movie Map can be run from main menu if you change the name to DM-LostCause.ut2 instead of just LostCause.ut2 and place it in your maps folder as usual. Just make sure that you set the number of bots to 0.
1. Make a cinematic single player map with strong emphasis on story and atmosphere. 2. Make an engaging level that's fun to play without enemies. 3. Create 100% original content from textures created in photoshop to all the static meshes used, no premade actors or textures were used in creating this map.
Here is my second Onslaught map called Concealed Respite. The first version of the map is available at www.unrealplayground.com but I've only posted the most recent versions on my website here. I tried to challenge myself by making it take place inside of a cave and this is also the first map that I constructed all of my own textures and static meshes. This is what I was trying to accomplish for this map: 1. Create an aesthetically interesting cave merging two different layers of terrain for the top and bottom. 2. Use all of my own static meshes and textures. Textures were either created from scratch or taken with a digital camera and edited in photoshop. 3. Make a fun fast Onslaught map. Here's my first attempt at an Onslaught map. It's called Majestic and I was trying to make it 32 player friendly. My goals were as follows:
1. Construct an Onslaught map primarily of BSP instead of terrain and static meshes. 2. Add a lot of vehicles and try to make the map have battles on two seperate levels. Download the map here: Majestic Download the ECE version of the map here: Majestic ECE
This is hopefully the last deathmatch level I'm going to make for a while, hope you like it. Here's what I was going for this time: 1. Use Karma. 2. Make a huge terrain based map. 3. Incorporate fog into the map. Download the map here: Ash Download the music here: jfg2
Here's my third level. I hope my latin is correct (email me if it's wrong). I'm having issues optimizing it in certain areas since I've never optimized a terrain map before. I tried to make this one stand out though. Here's what I was trying to do in this level: 1. Create interesting and well textured terrain. 2. Have a sweet looking waterfall. 3. Create structures (or in this case caves) that are built into the terrain. 4. Fool around with water a little more. 5. Test out water volumes. Download the map here: Cavernus Acerbus
Electricide is almost finished now as well, my friend Doug Kiklowicz made an original song for the level which I think turned out really well. The name of the song was just him randomly smashing on the keys of his keyboard, guess he's missing some fingers or something though cause it was still only 3 letters. My goals for this level were as follows: 1. Create a decent looking skybox. 2. Have the level realistically suspended in mid-air. 3. Have lots of particle emitters to help lend to the atmosphere. 4. Create beam emitters for more aesthetics. 5. To include believable sound effects. Download the map here: Electricide Download the music here: jfg
I'm finally approaching a point in the construction of this level where I'm satisfied, it's pretty much done, I just need to go back now and tweak some of the special effects. Here were my goals for this level: 1. Create an interesting and complex level with many static meshes. 2. Use a unique lighting scheme to compliment the level. 3. Have lots of movers that don't all just go up or down. 4. Use lots of emitters for steam effects and water. 5. Create an interesting water level. 6. Use lots of projectors to add to the atmosphere.
